How You Can Participate

The process for developing the Memorandum between the Neighborhood Councils and the Department of Transportation (NC/DOT) will take approximately three months and consists of two types of meetings or sessions. First, the NC's will meet monthly in "Strategic Sessions" where the NC reps and members of the public will refine their desires for the MOU. Second, the NC negotiating team and the DOT reps will meet monthly in "Negotiating Sessions" to work out the details of the MOU.

The public is always welcome to attend both sessions but voting in the "Strategic Sessions" is limited to one vote per NC and the actual negotiating will be limited to the 6-person negotiating team.

The public is always welcome and there is always an opportunity for public comment on the MOU document and the MOU process but to be most effective:

  • Attend your Neighborhood Council Board Meeting and urge them to select a representative and to participate in the process by addressing the MOU, collecting input from the community and sending specific feedback and suggestions for the MOU.

  • Attend the upcoming "Strategic Sessions" and meet folks from around the City of Los Angeles who are also interested in forging a powerful and positive relationship with the City's Department of Transportation. (March 28, April 25, May 23, June 27 if necessary)

  • Attend the upcoming "Negotiating Sessions" and meet Rita Robinson, the General Manager of the DOT along with her team. (list the four Negotiating Sessions - April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11 if necessary)

  • Review the draft documents, the agendas and the meeting minutes on the "What" page.
